ERPNext has no licence fees: it is open source under the GPL v3, for 5 users or 500. Licensed ERPs charge per user, per month, and the bill grows with every hire and branch. Move the sliders to see the difference for your business.

Your numbers, five years out.
Licensed ERPs charge per user, per month, often per module — and the bill grows every time you hire or open a branch. ERPNext is open source under the GPL, so the licence line is zero no matter how big you get.
Both options still need implementation and support. With ERPNext, that's where your budget goes — into a system you own, not a subscription you rent. Enter your own quote; the defaults are only an example.

We're not here to say licensed ERPs are bad — some teams are well served by them. But if you want to own your system, here's what changes.

ERPNext is open source under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL v3). The Frappe Framework it is built on uses the MIT licence. You can use, change and host both for any number of users with no licence fee, and the custom apps we build for you are yours. One rule to know: if you distribute ERPNext, or an app built on it, to other companies, the GPL requires you to share that code with them under the same licence. Using it inside your own business does not trigger this.
Where can ERPNext be hosted?
On your own server, on any cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean and others) or on Frappe Cloud. You pay the hosting provider directly and can move whenever you like, taking your code and data with you. We recommend an option based on your users, locations and IT capacity.
How much does ERPNext cost?
The ERPNext licence costs ₹0: it is open source under the GPL v3, for any number of users. You pay for implementation, any custom work, hosting and support. We quote implementation as fixed scope with a fixed price per phase.
Does ERPNext charge per user?
No. Adding users or branches does not change the licence cost, which stays at zero. Hosting can grow with your usage if you need a bigger server, but there is no per-user fee.
How does the cost calculator work it out?
For each year it multiplies users × licence price per user per month × 12, raises the price by the yearly increase you set, and adds the years together. It counts licence fees only; implementation and support apply to both options.
Is ERPNext cheaper than Zoho, SAP Business One or Tally?
On licences, yes: ERPNext has none, while Zoho and SAP Business One charge per user. Tally is inexpensive for accounting; the difference shows when you need production, HR, CRM or many branches. Our comparison pages go product by product.
